Day Nine
On day nine… we drove… Just kidding! We went back to Yellowstone! It was so cool! The only downside was the weather. It was 50° out and raining hard. We saw some waterfalls in the Canyon at Yellowstone. We walked down a winding and very steep trail to the lower falls. They were absolutely worth the steep hike. They are larger than Niagara Falls (they actually are larger). After that, we went on another trail to the upper falls. Once you get there, there are some great photo opportunities. We went back to the Grand Prismatic in the Mid Geyser Basin. Because of the weather, it was producing a lot of steam, so we could not see it as well today. We went to the Mud Volcano which produces a lot of sulfur and smells terrible. The sulfur smell comes from gasses released from deep underground and also from microbacteria that live off the acidic liquid and produce sulfuric acid as a biproduct. (Dragon’s Mouth and cauldrons, buffalo, elk, swans, falcon) I took some amazing photos today. We finished the day with a movie at the IMAX theater about Yellowstone.
